What's the difference between Fall and Spring lacrosse?
Fall Lacrosse:
- Type: Club Lacrosse
- Formality: More informal
- Schedule: Practices twice a week and games on Sundays throughout October
- Focus: The fall season often serves as a developmental period where players can hone their skills, stay in shape, and enjoy the sport in a less competitive environment. Teams are generally less structured, allowing for more flexibility and experimentation with positions and strategies.
Spring Lacrosse:
- Type: Official High School Season
- Formality: Formal GHSA
- Schedule: Runs from February through April
- Focus: The spring season is the primary competitive period for lacrosse. It includes more rigorous practice schedules and regular games. Teams are more structured, with defined roles and positions, and the focus is on achieving peak performance and success in the sport.
In summary, fall lacrosse is a relaxed, club-based season aimed at development and enjoyment, while spring lacrosse is the formal, competitive main season where teams strive for excellence and success.
